Public Meeting Set for NC 115 & Langtree Rd. Intersection Improvement Project

Public Meeting Set for NC 115 & Langtree Rd. Intersection Improvement Project

The Town of Mooresville will hold a public meeting on May 9, 2023 at Pine Lake Preparatory in regards to the design and implementation of the NC-115 and Langtree Road Intersection Improvement Project (U-6249 project). The NC 115 and Langtree Road Intersection Improvement Project is located along the southern edge of Mooresville.

The Town is managing the design and implementation as a Locally Administered Project (LAP). The project is currently in the State Transportation Improvement Plan (STIP) developed by the N.C. Department of Transportation.  As a LAP, the Town was able to receive federal funding and contribute local funds to initiate the project in the NCDOT STIP and have more ability to manage the project development, design, and funding.

NC 115 and Langtree Road are key corridors that connect downtown Mooresville with I-77 to the west and Davidson, Cornelius, Huntersville, and Charlotte to the south. Congestion in this area continues to increase and results in extended delays at the intersection. With more than a dozen private developments planned in the surrounding vicinity, congestion is expected to continue increasing. The purpose of the project is to create a corridor that can withstand increased traffic congestion with future economic development and enhance livability for surrounding neighborhoods and businesses.

The public meeting is May 9, 2023 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Pine Lake Preparatory (104 Yellow Wood Circle). Project comments will be accepted through June 9, 2023. You may submit questions at the meeting to Town Project Manager Camila Weckerly (704-799-4064 or cweckerly@mooresvillenc.gov) or NCDOT Environmental Analysis Unit's Tony Gallagher (919-707-6069 or magallagher@ncdot.gov).
