Downtown Streetscape

The Town of Mooresville is working on a Downtown Streetscape Master Plan. It will elevate the look and feel of Downtown while ensuring it's cohesive and functional for all residents, business owners, and visitors.

The public is invited to participate in a two-day design charrette for the Downtown Streetscape Master Plan.  The design studio will be held in the Town Hall Board Room (413 N Main St.) from 9:30 -6 p.m. on November 15 and 16.  The project consultant’s design team will create concepts for streetscape improvements within the study area based on public feedback from the online survey and the project steering committee.  Drop in any time you would like during this 2-day charrette to participate in this exciting project.  The 2-day event will conclude with a pin-up review of the concepts created from 4-6 p.m.

The Master Plan will address the streetscape design in Downtown Mooresville from the Mill Village in the south, through historic downtown, to E. Park Avenue to the north. It will also extend from Academy Street in the west to Church Street and Liberty Park to the east. The Planning & Community Development Department's survey asks business owners and residents for feedback on what they want to see in Downtown Mooresville.

This Master Plan will evaluate guiding documents and current conditions, establish a unified design vision for the public realm, recommend cross-sections, and prioritize corridors for capital improvement projects and cohesive guidance for private development. The Department is using prior studies and plans dating back more than 10 years to ensure the Downtown Streetscape Master Plan meets the needs and requirements for businesses, residents, and visitors.

The project will take eight months total to complete. The Department aims for the Town Board of Commissioners to adopt the Downtown Streetscape Master Plan in February 2024.
