Daylight Saving Time Reminders

DST Spring smoke detectors
Fire Marshal Woody reminds you to check your smoke detectors during Daylight Saving Time and replace the batteries to keep them working properly. Working smoke detectors help save lives and homes!

The National Fire Protection Association says nearly three out of five home fire deaths were caused by fires in homes with no smoke alarms (41%) or smoke alarms that failed to work (16%).

U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates an annual average of 362,000 unintentional residential fires. They’ve led to 2,400 deaths and 10,400 injuries from 2016 through 2018.

If you need assistance changing your batteries or installing a smoke detector, please call Mooresville Fire-Rescue at 704-664-1338.
