Town receives recognition for being ‘Patriotic Employer’

The Town of Mooresville was honored on August 1 by the Department of Defense and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve for its efforts in being a ‘Patriotic Employer.’

ESGR sponsors an awards program designed to recognize employers for their policies and practices that are supportive of their employees' participation in the National Guard and Reserve. Presenting the award at Fire Station 1 was Henry Bridgers, Jr. with ESGR, who said they give the award to employers who “support the value of military service and those who serve.”

Daniel Ross is a Senior Firefighter with MFR, along with serving as a Sergeant in the Air National Guard. The ‘Patriotic Employer’ recognition is employee-driven, and Ross nominated Mooresville Fire-Rescue, including Chief Curt Deaton and Battalion Chief Rob Colvert, for their support of his service. Also included in the honor was Pam Robbins, HR Specialist, for her assistance in explaining Ross’s pay and benefits while he is deployed.

Ross spoke during the short ceremony and thanked his supervisors and Robbins for making his deployments go as smoothly as possible.
