Basic Requirements for Applicants

  • U.S. Citizen
  • No Felony Convictions
  • Must be at least 21 Years of Age
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must successfully pass an oral interview and background investigation
  • Must successfully complete a polygraph examination
  • Must successfully pass a physical, drug screen and psychological evaluation

Benefits and Salary

  • Starting Annual Salary $40,443 while in BLET (increases to $42,465 upon sworn status)
  • Salary Range $42,465 - $66,413 (Starting salary varies based on the applicant’s prior experience, education and training)
  • Longevity pay each December $250 - $2000 based on years of service, if all requirements are met
  • Take home car. (Must live within 20 miles of contiguous town limits)
  • Up to $4,000 per year for tuition reimbursement
  • $240 annual gym/fitness center reimbursement (Must go at least 4 times per month)
  • 88-96 paid holiday hours per year
  • 80-160 hours paid vacation annually, based on years of service
  • 96 hours sick leave per year, accumulated indefinitely
  • Medical / dental / vision coverage offered

  • Qualifying sworn officers receive an additional separation allowance at retirement
